If you're a member of the public, the fastest path is usually our Find a Lawyer tool — fill in the practice area and location, and you'll get a shortlist plus the option to request a no-obligation quote. If you'd rather talk to a person first, send us a message above and we'll respond within one business day.

Is your service free for the public?

Yes — searching the directory, comparing firms and submitting quote requests is free for individuals and businesses looking for legal help.

How do you verify lawyers?

Every lawyer on the directory has been cross-checked against the New Zealand Law Society's public register of practitioners. We re-verify periodically and remove anyone whose practising certificate has lapsed.

Do you give legal advice?

No. LawyerFinder NZ is not a law firm and we don't give legal advice. We help match you with a lawyer who can.

What if I can't afford a lawyer?

If cost is a concern, our affordable lawyers page lists firms that work with legal aid, fixed fees, or community law clinics. The Ministry of Justice also has a legal aid grant scheme for eligible cases.
